Who are we?

Post  Max on Fri Jan 27, 2012 6:38 pm

Hi everybody!
For quite a while I try to find out who made my pots.
I took a look to several websites but without success.
Maybe anybody can help me identifiying?
It would be so great! Very Happy

All I know is where I bought them:
this one was bought in Omiya (the photo was taken on Mt. Fuji)

This one was a present by a very good friend

I bought this one in a high quality tea shop in Hong Kong

This is a "double happiness pot" also from HK

Thank you for any help!!

Best wishes!

Max,
The first pot Katoaka Syuho, it's up on my site, from Tokoname. The last pot is Yixing. The second two are both Chinese. I can't date them for you, as I don't recognize either chop, but both look to be of vey high quality. The 3rd looks new, I wouldn't say it's old. The second appears to have some patina, but it could be older. I wouldn't guess more than 30-40 years old, though, that's just a guess. I've seen a bunch of verifiably old Middle and New Crossing pots that were shelved, with little to no Patina.

No problem Max. I didn't even know there was a search function! Anywho, here's a link to the Chop database. Either click on the photo or hover with your mouse and it'll give you the potters name, sometimes more information.

Hi Mnhthu99,
actually I don't understand you.
You mean one of these pots is from Taiwan or from China? Which one?

Best wishes

They are all Chinese but the first one. That yellow one is really sweet!

I'd like to know too! The first is Japanese, the last is Chinese (Yixing), so that leaves the middle 2. Mnhthu99, these are Taiwanese makers?

The distinction between product of Taiwan and Japan are also somewhat difficult, only a broad understanding of new comments clear, but my own, only speculation I can not dare to constraints, forward the development of human sympathy and protection. Thank you!
