Your haiku really hit home with me.

I remember when I was in the Navy in Oakland in 1970-71 going to electronics school out on Treasure Island. My car was broken down and we were new car shopping and luckily I had my first small motorcycle I had brought up from San Diego where I bought it while in Navy school there.

I remember SO WELL those winter rains/sleat while riding out over the Bay Bridge to TI, while my heart beat in my throat!!!

The south

bright dazzling bue sky
no clouds to crest high
trees burst with heated growth

Heavy rain at last in the San Francisco area. It's been bone dry for the last couple of months. Maybe this will break the drought before it's well established.

I remember Hud and spending evenings reading the IBC in text only via e-mail with my wife and wishing we had the ability to sit somewhere other than in front of the computer. Now we have wireless service in throughout the house, but no Haikumatic.
