Note correct spelling. Google on Pieris japonica bonsai & you will find plenty of information. There is one in Longwood Gardens.

John, go to the Search box up beside the menu bar at the top of the page and type in "pieris" and you will see what has been written on here previously about this plant as a bonsai. You'll find the same question as yours has been asked and some good answers already given.

There are five threads there to choose from.

I've amended your own thread title so that your question and any new responses it generates appears in the search as well.

Hope this helps

These may help also:

http://www.floridata.com/ref/p/pier_jap.cfm

http://www.bonsai4me.com/SpeciesGuide/Pieris.html

http://www.chinesebonsaigarden.com/japanese-andromeda-bonsai-tree/

Unfortunately, Google images has no good images of a Pieris bonsai. I tried one once and promptly killed it.

I have one that is currently still in the ground although I've been chipping away at branches over the past couple of years. I will lift it into a large training pot next year.

I think Todd Ellis killed one also.

I'm trying to talk a friend out of a huge Pieris japonica 'pygmaea'. The Pieris ryukyuensis hybrids like 'temple bells' and 'mountain snow' actually do better for me this far south.

I've had trouble getting pieris established in the ground for some reason...maybe I'd have better luck with a potted specimen! Maybe as a future project.

I wrote this on one of the other threads but not sure if you saw it - if you have access to International Bonsai magazine, there is a photo of one that was exhibited in the 2008 Kokufu Bonsai Ten in Japan. The photo is on page 39 of the 2008/#2 issue.

Yes, Chris, I think you emailed me that picture. That's an amazing bonsai.
