invert tapering can increase the movement of a tree
it is not always a default
it could be a strong focal point

and sometimes it gives a kind of impulsion by this wrong balance

does this tree get some new shoots on the top?

This is my "cannabis" tree, also with invert taper.

This is what it looks like and it is a harmless vine in Croatia.
Snyway, it has spectacular inverse taper and a cow skull on top and looks like cannabis. This will be a bonsai for Halloween.

Robert,

Hello! I hope you are doing fine.

In fact, the tree posted by Mr. Pall is not Ganja (Cannabis sativa/indica). It is commonly called "Chaste Tree" or Vitex agnus castus. Vitex agnus-castus, also called Vitex, Chaste Tree, Chasteberry, Abraham's Balm or Monk's Pepper. It has nice purple flowers. This one is the only of its genus to thrive in temperate-zones, but also grows well in tropical regions. Along the caribbean it is commonly used as an ornamental.

Kind regards,

Jose Luis

If you smoke Vitex agnus castus ... Smile :
... More recently, this plant has been called monk's pepper in the thought that it was used as anti-libido medicine by monks to aid their attempts to remain chaste. There are disputed accounts regarding its actual action on libido, with some claims that it is anaphrodisiac and others that it is aphrodisiac. Because of the complex mechanism of action it can be probably both, depending on concentration of the extract and physiologic variables ...
