DESIGN EXERCISE

Post  Robert Steven on Tue Dec 13, 2011 5:51 am

Here is my Pemphis I am going to style. It's originally growing on rock, don't try to bend the trunk and the the main branch because it's very brittle and will break easily.

Would be fun to see your idea before I post my idea... sunny

Emphasizing the rock by exposing more of it and telling a transformation story.

2nd go! Very Happy

when you really assess the material tree it has a thin poorly curved trunk (like a parallel bow with no taper) sat on a fat base, and we are told it cant be bent, so for me you cut off what is poor or unworkable and work with the best part - a powerfull strong based shohin ,it makes good use of the nice base, especially as the larger trees show a very poor step from the short fat base to the long thin trunk.

best wishes

this tree is not so easy

Ok then, since you like broken pots, how about taking it a bit further, a broken bucket with a simple hanging branch design adding a few tons of rock. Smile Enough foliage mass to counter the now heavy rocks.

Haha..why not using some scretch pieces from your rocket..... ThumbsUp

Since I really want to send out my New Year Gift, so I will give you some clue...
Neither the trunk nor the branches would be bent, just use the existing branches to refine the ramification to form the foliation..and simply use either one of the angles I posted.... drunken
