Hi IBC.

Pardon me for sharing many trees lately. It is the rainy season here and most of my trees are growing very fast these time of year, I worked on a couple of trees today. here is one that is going wild that needs my attention. Otherwise the branches would grow thick and would be difficult to design.

Before, I was planning to make this a surrealist composition, a tree in a floating rock, like the trees in the "avatar" movie...but my rock was taken over by the moss and small ferns and turning natural...It was a lovely black volcanic "lava" rock. This is the tree that I was telling about in my other thread, the tree that can live well in a very little soil...A vitex sp.
Comments are always welcome.

regards,
jun Smile

Hi Jun
I love the composition and sincerely envy how fast you grow trees. Very good work, as well as your other trees. I also like the presentation-shooting. It is always a real tree. It has atmosphere. Very good. Thanks for sharing and keep going. Very Happy ThumbsUp

Do not fool yourself, my friend. It is your ego, June! You have to accept it!

Jun - nice concept.

Perhaps you should let the lower right hand branch grow long and stay long for a while to fatten that branch. The first branch on the left now seems to be the thickest branch so that lower right one needes to catch up with and pass that one in thickness.
Also since it grows so fast, I'd consider pruning off more all over the rest of the tree (except for the lower right branch) to develop more taper in each branch - a common tropical technigue.

Rob,

Thanks!

Originally before the tree was planted in the current rock, the second branch on the left side were the first branch. I'll do as you say. It will catch up in a matter of two months. If this tree will be left to grow wild again it would take only one month or less to revert in its previous wild look like the one above.

Jun, thank you for INSPIRING ME. This is an amazing composition and I love where you got your inspiration. I also named one of my hard to find species Eywa. It is a dwarf leaf bucida spinosa, but the difference is the that the internodes instead of being an inch apart, these are 1/8" apart so it makes denser, more compact pads. It is still in a big nursery pot, hopefully this 2011 spring i can re-pot in a bonsai pot. Continue your journey my friend and thank you for sharing your trees and ego. lol! thumbs up thumbs up thumbs up thumbs up thumbs up thumbs up

Thanks Hiram.

I am glad my works is inspiring you. We can get inspiration from almost anything with trees,,,I am even working on several trees inspired by cartoon shows. Just keep doing what you think will make you happy and will put a smile in your face every time you see your work.

i like the mission you are taking to trasform some of your trees Jun sunny

i guess we get more egos for multi trunk posts ? and even more for forests !! cheers lol!

you are right though, it is only a small number of the members showing nice trees that still need improvement - some want to feed their personal ego by trying to show trees they think are 'finished'....all these people want is 20 replies saying "wow, you are a bonsai god" - but i think some of the 'experienced' members are not willing or able to hear critique or improvements to their work - even though the same people love giving critique haha

in a marine coral aquarium forum there was the loudest most critical person who could find fault with perfection........despite a lot of asking he could never show his own pictures to back up his verbal critique - he never had an aquarium ! forums can be funny

enjoy the wet season jun - a good time to style many many treegos, i manage to take trees to my factory this time of year to work on as the machines only need to run slowly, so my staff can opperate them and i just need to be there for advice and teaching. i joked last week i would teach them to wire small branches - then we would get some trees done Very Happy

cheers for now,

marcus
