Unusual Caliandra Literati syle

Post  Fox CWB on Fri Nov 18, 2011 10:11 pm

Hi all,

This is not the most appropriated tree to use as literati Bonsai style, but, as I have this plant with an unusual trunk movement, I decide to follow the literati style.
Bellow a little evolution pictures..

Today the plant is waiting for a bonsai pot, if someone has some suggestion, it will be welcomed.

Thanks

Fox,
the tree is nice. just a simple round shallow pot for me.

If the health of the tree permits, I think it would be very nice to display this tree in the future with just a flower or two and totally leafless.

regards,
jun Smile

Pot idea

Nice tree! Grey goes with pink so i am thinking grey matte glazed medium-shallow round pot with convex profile.

You could try a Sami Khozan's pot, do you know him? He's from Brazil...

I believe that this kind of pot should be fine with this bonsai.

But I don´t know here in Brasil who makes pots with this finishing.

One year later, the tree stands on her first pot.

Sweet! I would try to find a nice glazed pot for this tree, or a more rugged "short crescent" type of container.

I'm digging your styling! But I am a bunjin kinda guy. With that being said I am leaning toward a nanban pot. IMHO

virtual tree

Very beautifull trunk, but I think that the first branch is too strong, virtual tree in the future.

You have certainly inspired me to find a member of this genus in my part of the world. Thank you! Your bunjin is great!

I really like what you have acheived with the tree.

You haven't commented on the state of the roots, but that pot does not work for me.

I think this tree, if it can cope, really will look a lot better in a long thin tray style pot. With the tree planted on one end and a trunk line that extends almost the length of the tray I think you'd have a much more sophisticated image?

I can't seem to post any pics but this link should show you the type of pot I am thinking about? I found this link somewhere randon on the net, so I can't say more than that it's the style I'd imagine would suit your lovely tree.

pot for bunjin style

Post  abcd on Tue Feb 09, 2016 7:27 pm

For literati or bunjin style, the pots are always circular pot, or circular plate , never a rectangular form.
