Strange brown spots? Empty Strange brown spots?

Post  katsols Fri Apr 06, 2012 9:06 pm

I wasn't sure where to post this, i don't know if it's a disease or fungus. But basically i noticed these brown spots on my azalea, they were only right under the young light green looking leaves and on the young ones too. Strangely, it had this only on one half of the azalea, on the other half there was barely any. This is only on the top leaves, the rest of the leaves are healthy dark green and glossy. What could this be?

p.s. this is not an official bonsai azalea yet, it's in a regular pot outside so it would get a little bigger.

Have you recently moved the plant from a shady location into full sun?

I thought it might be sunburn, but if has not been exposed to too much sun

Maybe
Rhizoctonia Blight

Rhizoctonia Web Blight results in tan or black spots growing on leaves, eventually expanding and engulfing the entire leaf, according to the Cooperative Extension Service of Pennsylvania State University. The blight could bring about the death of smaller plants. Avoiding watering the rhododendron in the late afternoon may help the shrub resist this condition.

It looks like a fungus. Is the plant staying damp most of the time?

This is sick "spotted leaves '
cut off the leaves and carries the disease.
This disease also often occur with other types of orchids and some other crops.
not dangerous but losing the beauty of trees

I seriously doubt that the same disease that attack Rhododendron/Azalea family plants would attach Orchids. This might be a language issue. A lot of plants get "fungus" but most/many are species specific.
