Willow leaf Ficus root prune
I bought a pre Bonsai Willow leaf ficus. I think it's ready to be potted however it will need extensive root pruning, more than
I have ever had to do on a tree before. I live in zone 7, tree of course is inside. Is it ok to pot it this time of year or would it
be best to wait till spring?

Although this is a hardy variety, in your location I would wait until spring and it can recover outside.

Ficus grown in a non tropical climate tend to handle repotting (especially severe root pruning) when they are actively growing so I would wait till late spring at the earliest but with all my large ficus in zone 7, Most success is repotting them at peak growth in june or july and then just keep em in the shade for a week and then put them right back where they were growing. with the particular species of ficus your using, if you have large roots your removing, they will actually sprout leaves so dont throw them out.
