Cleaning pots

I have a number of pots that have ugly white stains and steaks which I'm guessing are lime deposits. How should I go about removing that? Are there any special considerations I should take into account?

Peter, thank you. I have studied your site. As a fan of beautiful pots, how could I not? However, what I read on your site is how to keep limescale from developing. I already have that problem. Will the regular cleaning with oil remove it?

I looked around and found that vinegar removes the lime scale. I'll give it a try on one pot and see what happens.

Hi Ed,

the pot with vinegar to decoct is a good tool, but then the whole patina away.
If you take the dish with thin oil (weapon oil) rub the lime is no way, But you see him no more, and the patina remains.
