With the show coming up on Sunday I have spent some time today getting things together, looks like my display will be something like this

Getting ready for Capel Manor Dscf6219
The tree is a Blackthorn
The scroll is of mushrooms
The accent is a mix of ferns and mosses

Beautiful tree and accent. Your scroll seems quite wrinkled... if its a judged show then it might impact the score of your overall display.

Getting ready for Capel Manor Empty Small suggestion

Post  Jeremy Fri Oct 14, 2011 5:30 pm

Hi Chris,
Small point...... 2 slabs.
I'd prefer one large slab and one small table. Rolling Eyes
I'll be down pm Sat. with the car and my trees, etc.

I plan to use my larch cascade and chuhin yew.
The larch was expected to start the colour change to golden yellow, but it' has not happend yet.
The yew needs a bit of tweaking and the deadwood worked on.
Finding the time is a challenge.
After Wales wins their quarter final tommorow, I'll hopefully be free to get down to Chris's and have a play.

The yew.

hats off to you Chris - you must cover the entire country many times over each year to show your trees and attend the various events. no wonder the scroll gets the occassional wrinkle Laughing but i expect suburbia would be wrinkled after 100 years of dsplay and travel too!!

enjoy the show but more importantly good luck in the rugby - for once every englishman is a little bit welsh !! (but only a little bit haha)

regards Marcus

i quite like the pics of the yew but have only ever seen this angle, it would be excelent if a tweaked front could be found in years to come so the dead wood isnt so 'in your face' and the live vein is more visible to give a little contrast. once again tho, enjoy and good luck.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I'll have a play soon and post some options.

Hi Chris,

Lovely display.

I agree with the Jerry about the two slabs though. Is there a 'rule' in showing that means you have to use a table or slab under the pot? I think it would look great without the wooden slab.

I really like the accent - is the pot one of Morea's? The Blackthorn aint too bad either Very Happy

Jerry - really like the Yew - deadwood is great.

Best of luck to both of you at the show, looking forward to seeing photos of the whole event.

See you in a few weeks Chris.
You going to Burrs Jerry? See you there if you are.

Cheers

Paul

Hi Paul
Yes it is one of Morea's pots. I know all this thing about not having a slab for the tree and the accent, but I am looking at the flow of the image from the scroll image to the top of the tree and then dropping to the accent . If I use a table for the accent it might be to high but I am sure Jerry will put me right tomorrow!

Your friend Peter was with us last Sunday, great to see him again
