Bonsaï in chicago, what can be seen?

Post  quatrefi on Tue Oct 11, 2011 9:24 am

Hello, i'll be in Chicago from the 13 to nthe 20 of october.
Maybe some chicago citizens could answer my questions.
Are there any bonsaï events at that time?
There are some bonsaïs at the Botanical garden, is it worth being seen?
Are there any ggod nurseries in the area?

Thanks
JF from France

Wish you were coming to seattle. we have a great bonsai shop, numerous nurseries, and the pacific rim bonsai display at weyerhauser headquarters. The countryside is made up of the cascade mountains featuring Mt rainier ( a giant snow covered volcanoe) on the east and the pacific ocean on the west.

The Chicago Botanic Garden is definitely worth visiting... not just for their bonsai. I don't know if there are any bonsai specific nurseries in the area, but there are a couple of bonsai artists in Chicago with quality bonsai. I have listed two of them below... send them a note for a visit.

1. Matthew Ouwinga - http://www.kaedebonsai.com/
2. Phil Malhiot - vigrapi@gmail.com
