Cypress Problem
My Italian cypress is covered with tiny white specks. I was in a hurry, so I treated it with Bayer Rose & Flower treatment, which I happened to have out. Will that work, or should I discard the tree?

Re: Cypress Problem
Are the "specks" critters or growths?
My advice would always be not to spray with anything until you know what it is you are spraying (and, whether the spray you use will adversely affect the tree). A day or two really doesn't matter in most cases of an infestation.

I haven't learned yet how to post pictures to this new site. The specks appear to be some sort of miniature scale.JimLewis wrote:Are the "specks" critters or growths?

There are some tutorials in the TESTING forum.
If they are scale, maybe a light oil spray???

Re: Cypress Problem
Hi Iris! I'll bet it is scale. My junipers get a tiny white scale that blends in with the scale-like needles. I use Pyrethrin against them, and it works fine.

Cypress Problem
The Bayer treatment, which is similar to Di-Syston granules, did nothing, & Orthenex apparently did nothing. I was seeing scales on new foliage. The tree wasn't worth any more trouble, so I threw it out. I'd like to get another one, but this species does not do well from mail order nurseries.
