Deformed leafs on the Oak
Hello All, this is my first post on this forum. I would like to ask you about deformed leafs on the oak (Quercus robur). The tree is growing near by railroad (4meters). Leafs are deformed only on one side and the rest of the tree is normal. This oak is about 50cm tall. I will be grateful for all answers, what kind of disease it is? And sorry for my english.

That looks like herbicide/weedkiller damage to me. Others may have more theories though.

Hello Kev, I think that you might be right. There are more trees with deformation like this at this place near by railroad. Some hawthorns to. I wonder if this tree will survive till next spring. I would like to dig it up. We will see. Thank you for your help.

Railroads and power line right-of-ways are often sprayed with herbicides.

Re: Deformed leafs on the Oak
Some time ago the railway companies got away from herbicides and tried really hot steam on the "right of ways" (the swath either side of the tracks) here in BC..... but perhaps were you are they still use herbicides?! If so, the subject tree should be dead soon, if not severly injured.
