Suiseki-surface

Post  Guest on Wed Sep 21, 2011 11:13 am

I am not an expert in suiseki.....and not at all, when it comes to the surface.

It is the japanese surface I am interested in....I know what to do, about the newly collected stones, at least I belive so. Please correct me if I am wrong...

Find the stone...wash the stone in clean water if it is dirty. Place it on a bench in a ventilated place in the the garden...Water every day, and hope for a lot of sun....if the stone is stained, is it OK to rub it now and then, to make it go away..

I know some stones need more prepare. But this is not my question now.

Now...When is a stone ready for the daisa. What do we want the stones surface to have become?. And how do we see it is ready.

Can a stone from the ocean be used as a suiseki.?

And why is a stone with a allready nice surface, obtained in the nature, Ocean or land not good enough?

Kind regards Yvonne

Hi Jeremy

I sounds easy Very Happy ....Can you send me a picture and explain the good dew, and also explain the poor dew.
What do you do about the "nature" that grow on the stone, and the "dust" in the deep corners, after collection and first cleaning?.

Kind regards Yvonne

Here in the seattle area during winter when streams are full, i often walk the salt water beaches to look for stones. To be honest tho, I have only found one that I felt strongly about and created a daiza for.

hi Dick

Was this because of the surface, you only found one?....or because it was the only pretty stone you found?.

Please look at my topic " my danish stones" and tell me if you like theese stones...also do I have more to say about beach and beachstones.

kind regards Yvonne
