up....still growing...this year i ve just worked the branches and let nature makes a nice roots system on the rock
nature answer with his strength is often better than the totally controlled non stop human work
i realize how much bonsai is a real communication school with the trees...(yeah i know...some people get this quicker than i did ^^)
you ask and do ...and the vegetal give the answer and do also, but you have to let the time to do it properly
i was too much on my trees before ...and they were a lot less healthy
now i let the time to the plants...i can see the powerfull answer

Agree on giving trees time - they mature so suddenly into something nice if we give them time.

Hi Cram,

This may well be one of the most interesting bonsai I know.

Can you share a bit about how you deal with potting, wiring?

I dug up a largisch carica in spring. After potting up, it dropped all the foliage, and branchlets started dying off. After 4 months I pulled it out of the container, and noticed not a single new root had developed (Actually no living roots were left). Instead of tossing, I planted it in the garden. It is now sprouting loads of new shoots. I am a bit worried when I should put and what micture to use.

Also, of course.. Considering your extreme complex bending: At which point do you wire? Where do you have it? Full summer sun?

thanks for the cool comment
well ...actually... there is no exact period to wire carica...you just do it when you feel the branch in need to be wired
but because carica grows very fast ...you ll always have to think about giving movement before the bark become grey
as long as it is green ...you can bend a lot( don t water the tree few days before bending...if not..branches could break lot more easily)
after ...you still can bend of course  ...but a lot far less
and you ll have to pick up the wire quicly if you see the bark swallowing it

for the ramification and back budding
in spring wait for new sprouts
let them grow just a little bit (less than one inch)and cut the terminal bud
back buds will sprout evrywhere

for the potting...just do as for ordinary ficus

i will put a new picture during the coming days

the speed of evolution depends of the species that you work and the place where you live
the ficus carica is really strong in my area....so the results follows quickly

true that i am proud of this tree ...it s not fake-humility but an observation
it is one of this trees which can give you an answer for each of the questions you ask to him
ok... i talk a lot (even too much maybe)lol

you know ..it is the same for each bonsai tree
...except the graphic part...which is coming from the personality skills and culture of the bonsaika

the cultivation part...is only made of vegetal rules...no human things
we just play with the magic capacity of plants to answer to stimuli (and that what we are to plants)
we only can learn these rules and follow them to get what we expect from the tree

but often the answer is strongest than what we plan
nature is higher than us in magic
