Hi all,
2 years ago the three associations came with a good idea - to exhibit the best trees of each association in one show, in a Treinnale. Last year in Prague the first steps were taken, the foundation-stone was laid, the pact signed.
Last week the cycle started off by the first exhibit in Dresden - Pillnitz, Germany. Next year everybody is welcome to Wroclaw, Poland. This year there was a great exhibition, so I personally am looking forward very much to the other event, second Triennale. And in the year 2013, the third Triennale will take place in Czech Republic.
There were very good trees, I´ll show some few of them and I hope other photos will come soon by other visitors.
Christian Przybylski´s common juniper in great condition:

Wlodek Pietraszko´s pine:

Do You see this nice parviflora? It´s a sylvestris!

My friend Milan Karpíšek´s tree, a sylvestris pine bunjin:

A naturally built crown on another great common juniper, I think it´s Uwe Krötenheerdt´s tree.

There were demos everyday, always done by three, "triennale artists".
Women´s power on Friday - Petra Lamberg (G), Šárka Jásenská (CZ), Marta Pietakiewicz (PL)
Masters on Saturday - Václav Novák (CZ), Wlodzimierz Pietraszko (PL), Enrico Savini (I) + Andrea Melloni (G)
and new talents on Sunday - Carmen Ganzenmüller (G), Milan Karpíšek (CZ), Boleslaw Wujczyk (PL)

My photos from gala evening didn´t turn out well.
Here You can see the nominated - Andrea Melloni (G), Jarek Lenarczyk (PL), Wlodek Pietraszko (PL),
Vašek Novák (CZ), Thomas Pallmer (G) and Libor Slatinka (CZ)

I am sorry, I forgot all the winners, I was so touched by the PBA presidents´ award -
the winner - bunjin pine of Milan Karpíšek.
Than our ČBA president Vašek Novák awarded someone, I am sorry I don´t remember.
Last event almost shocked me -
the main award from hands of Thomas Pallmer, the challenge Triennale trophy,
went to Milan Karpíšek again.

Thanks for sharing these wonderful trees, Tom. There's certainly some top quality stuff coming out of eastern Europe lately!

Very impressive trees!
Nice to see such high quality J.communis and P.sylvestris.
Our local variety of the former is almost impossible to keep alive up here.

Lots of nice conifers.

Milan did well. His two trees look fine.

Did you show anything Tom?

There were much more trees, many nice broadleaved too, but I didn´t take too much photos.
I had to stay at the vendor area with my pots.

Rob, I wanted to show my promising larch, but in spring, when I left for Ksiasz (PL) for 6 days, insects bite the needles in half and the very late frosts and snow (in the beginning of May!) added to damage... to the damaged image of my tree. Next year I´ll have more to choose from.

thanx Rob!!! Bonsai is a compositipon of tree and pot. Without Tom´s pots there maybe would be no trophys. So he has been part of the exhibit and has the trophys with me. It´s work of us two together. So Tom, a big thankyou!

These two trees have been styled by famous Artist Wolf-D. Schudde.
As I work for nowadays owner of the Schudde Collection it is my pleasure to restore
all these fascinating but not always pretty or often even ugly (!) trees.
So that's why I've been asked to show them on the exhibition. And so I did.

Best wishes.
Max

Hi, Max! Do You plan to restore the corroded iron too? Very Happy
If I knew You brought these trees to the exhibit, I would talk about them with You for sure.
When I saw them, they just made me ask "Why?"
I couldn't calm down myself to find the answer, I just asked "Why?" again Smile
After some few weeks, one friend reminded me these trees.
Industrial bonsai I told myself. For a while I thought about man, nature, town/city and its industrial suburbs...
But in my eyes, the answer was just the simple tree, simple bonsai.
There is a lot of iron around, so I don't need any in the pot.
Can You tell me something about these compositions?

Btw., good work on them, Max.

I think that Tom Benda's "why" could find an answer taking into consideration the difference between Eastern and Western mentalité, or culture or ethics or mores, or.....
This is simply western bonsai and western bonsai at its vaste majority has discarded any relation with eastern culture in my own ignorant opinion. Western bonsai has only kept the hand work instructions and training from the origins of bonsai. Then being focused on that they evolved bonsai art within the context of western culture. My own ignorant opinion again.

By the way, very artistic photos Max!

Hi Alexandra, Hi Tom,

well Schuddes intention was quite easy. He just wanted do discover a european way of Bonsai. He wanted to find something that is not only repeating the traditional japanese styling rules. So that's why he mostly took very low quality trees and built something totaly new at that time. He was the first one to do something like this! By now there are several "artists" who combine bonsai with anything else. The German Bonsai Scene was very divided. Many people disliked Schuddes work. But a few payed very good money for it. This all is decades from now. Nowadays he is a star but already dead. There are just a few trees left. 3 of them are part of my private collection. And most of these trees are part of my clients collection. I will start a special thread in this forum showing some of his compositions. So far I did not need to restore any iron parts.

Best wishes.
