In other words, the klu was in the title.
Sorry, sorry. Most of the time I am completely klu-less. I'll stop now shall I?
Nice project Sam. What are the dimensions of your "runt"?

Hi Sam,
You gave me an idea, I will probably do that with my small acasia, Very nice composition., and the advantage I see in planting acasia in a rock is that it will slowdown its growth a bit. You cannot have more than five acasias in your garden, they grow so fast that you need to work on them at least once a week.
Hi Fiona, I will give you a klu, Sam does not call me ka because we are about the same in age

Indeed. I had spotted that one and made the correct assumption. This international edyookayshun that goes on on IBC is a great thing.Ka Pabling wrote:Hi Fiona, I will give you a klu, Sam does not call me ka because we are about the same in age

Re: klu+stone =s
hello fiona and my acacia friend.
my little tree is about 8 inches wide across the base and about 14 inches high. nothing compared to pabling's monster. I collected this tree from a coastal site near my home, where the trees grow in profusiion on an old limestone formation. the land is strewn with broken limestone pieces, so it seemed natural to plant the tree on its native stone. I have many acacia from shohin size on up. just planted a cascade in a crescent pot.
best wishes, sam

Re: klu+stone =s
Hi Sam,
Is the slab made of ceramic or is it natural stone.I love the one planted on a crescent ceramic pot, thats one thing we dont have here, crescent pots. If you need one you have to make it from concrete.
Best wishes

good morning ka pabling
the slab is natural unaltered limestone, found in abundance in the same area I collect the acacia. the crescent was made for me by a friend.

Sam,
Both me and Ka Pabling were new to this material, Ka Pabling is a master in Pemphis, an amateur in Acasias but me; really a novice. I'm looking forward for his trees development so I can imitate his techniques and stlyles. Wish us luck and so with your Acasias.

Arno,
I haven't seen any thorns on the branches of your tree which is one of the typical character of Acasia Farnesiana. Varieties growing near the seashore has longer spikes compared to those who grew on the non saline places. The way your branches moved is another clue that it is a Klu, it looks like it but not too sure. Maybe Sam, Fiona or Ka Pabling can share their thoughts.

Hi Arno,
I believe kiawe and acacia fornesiana are different. I have never seen a kiawe before so I am not familiar with it. If you say that your tree is a kiawe, then it is not acacia fornesiana.
Maybe Sam will be the better person to clarify this.
Regards,
ka pabling

Ok Friends
I did some google research,(amazing tool should hvae tried that first ) I saw some photos of large Acacia Farnesiana on Maui. There actually not far from my house.
The problem for me is that the small pictures posted here dont show the seed pods and that gave it away for me. Big seeds yellow flowers. Anyway I dont think "kiawe" is an acacia may be a distant cousin though cuz they look the same. Maybe ill keep trying them all. we also have acacia koa, you ever use that one sam?
