I read Jim's wonderful sticky on Identification after I already took these pictures , but I don't think these will be too tricky. I believe these two are Cryptomeria Japonica of different cultivars, but I could be way off. I picked them up in a garden store in Pittsburgh last winter. The cashier said that the lighter green one could not withstand a hard freeze, so I kept them both by the window until the spring. They managed to put on some new growth even while indoors. My plan is to reduce them even further next growing season as it is really tricky to get a grasp on thier structure. Then once I have a design and direction, then I will plant them in the ground to fatten.
I believe these two are Chamaecyparis of different cultivars.
