From the Netherlands to Thailand

Post  Morea on Tue Aug 16, 2011 8:09 pm

Dear Viewers

Now im just back in cold Netherlands from my trip to beautiful Thailand !
Over 800 photo's we made , and im so full with new experiences my head is buzzing.
In this topic i would like to share some special stories and photo's.

Here are my sons on Dusseldorf airport , all shecked in , passport controled
and waiting for our 11 hours flight to Bangkok !

I could not imagen it was that far , as i saw the Tom/Tom on board of the airplane
fly-ing over India/ Bangladesh / Afganistan and furter on.
In Pattaya i had hired an appartment , here is a streetcorner in the busy little town.

In Pattaya there is a Wat = a boedhistic temple complex.
It was the very first time i visited one.
As we walked the busy street , lot of noise , we saw the entrace of the Wat.
All hesitating , but i really wanted to go in .
It is a big complex with several buildings , a pond , and school.
Were the people go to offer and pray and get blessings , was the biggest temple.
We walked towards it , and noticed TOTAL silence , one could only hear a little bell ringing in the wind.
At the temple we saw we had to take our shoes off.
As i was doing this a thai boedhistic monk stood suddenly in the door of the temple , with his orange cloting ,
except for his head totally tattoot and holding a cat in his arms , smiling at me and waving me to come in .
I was so astouned , nailed to the ground , the monk laught louder
played with the cat and waved me again to come in.
Inside the temple another man , no monk , showed me how to burn the incence , and stick the gold on a boedha.
Show some places in the wat , could not make any picture of the monk , it just wasn't right to do.
I went back to the temple to burn insence , bring flowers and food, the monk smiled every time and
invited me in , he even stood watching me as i went to the pond to feed the fish and turtles .
This was so special for me , i felt so thankfull.
Here is a picture of the square with the bells.

There are a lot of animals at the wat's , very relaxed and i could not resist to make a photo
of this doggie with his beautiful coloured bells around his neck

For now i have to stop , there are a lot of photoos of bonsai and penjing comming up .
First resizing and come back to share .
Kind regards
Morea

HI Morea... looks like you had a great trip, looking forward to seeing all your photos... do you want to make a slide show at Burrs on Friday evening?

Dear all,

thank You for reply Chris , John and Tony !
Yes i had a wonderful trip , it was special and unforgetable beautiful.
Holland seems so grey nowadays , in sky , houses , trees ,flowers and people !
Here i will post photoos of inspirations , oke ?
At bonsai topic i will show some of the bonsai and penjing i saw at Nong Nooch gardens.

Tony , Yes , i could do that , but first shall we see if there are good photoos for Burrs.
We can look together ?

Here we visited a huge Boedha on a mountain .
We had to walk to the top , than up the stairs and the boedha was immense high and gold.
On the plateau were several other boedha's , tehy were about 3 mrt. high.
between 2 there was a very nice bougainville tree !

Ofcourse we visited the elephants , we were lucky there was a baby
The boys could clime on the elephants neck and they took a bath and play in the river together !
All had so much fun , the elephants were down under in the water and only tip of the trunk
out and making happy sounds !!
Elephants are really sweet tender animals !

For now i'll stop here , have some bonsai photoos resized .
Kind regards

I'm jealous, Morea. Thailand is one place I'd love to visit. I'll look forward to seeing your pics and hearing your stories at Burrs.
