I enjoyed that. Sad state of affairs in the UK right now, and this guy's right on the button. Thanks for posting. His mention of parents was a good one.

If they imported a few riot police from South Africa, they'd clean up in half an hour!! ThumbsUp

Very very true. If its any consolation, this kind of behavior happens all over the world. I do feel for the police an citizens that are not allowed to own the means to defend themselves.

It happened here for a while after Hurricane Katrinia in 05
the complete breakdown of authority led to anarchey for a while. Thank god I had the means to defend my family and property. I could not imagen not being able to!

Yes Mitch, I feel sorry for the London area property/store owners with no means of defense just as the folks in New Orleans were left after the Police started illegally confiscating their firearms. It's pretty hard to defend your store being vandalized, robbed and burned using a loaf of bread to defend yourself.
Regarding the video speakers comments about the criminals having guns but not the police and citizens. It never seems to be figured out by those who will take away an innocent, law abiding citizens means of protection that criminals just simply don't care what the law says or worry about breaking it.
I wonder how Australia is doing with their anti-gun ownership laws effecting criminals with guns?

Do you really need statistics or is that a kind of a joke ?... Shocked

When I was in primary school, I had a friend, and we would go to each others' house to play.

Then, we lost track of each other, that's life.

When my father was still alive, I learned that this friend lived in a village near their place and wanted to pop in, and have a drink together, and tell each other how it's fun to meet long-lost friends.

The week before I went, my mother came to my place and told me that his youngest son had been sot dead by his elder son.

I'm 56, that's the only death by gunshot I've known in all my life (apart from two friends who committed suicide, the first one with her father's hunting rifle, the second one with her father's pistol that he had kept from WW2).

He was in the police force, he always unloaded his gun and put it in a safe place when coming back home (we don't live in a country where guns are needed). What happened exactly, no one will ever know, but pain, suffering, aguish will remain forever.

And we are not a "trigger-happy" country, and most people don't wish death on anyone, even rioters.

The accidental deaths by guns are, I'm sure, the main cause of deaths by bullets.

Stay away from guns.

My suggestion, open a new section in the forum :

"UKIP, National Front, Tea Party, etc. and friends", so I will shunt this crap, whenever I come back to this forum.

This guitar kills fascists:

Do you have bonsai forums in Greece ? Do people call for the return of the "colonels" to muffle out the revolt of the people there who see the fat cats getting fatter, the politicians and their friends pocketting huge profits, and the scared bourgeois calling for a police state, punishing a whole family for what one its member has done, advocating lynching lost children while the rest of the population is f***ed out ?

I'm so disappointed to see some of the people there that I appreciated so far support the nazionalistik, hatred rant that was posted there. That really makes me feel sick.

I'm sorry, but we had very similar riots in 2005 here in France, except that it was even more racially-based at the beginning.

Yes, hang them, quarter them, shoot them, do what they did in Tunisia, in Egypt, in Syria, sleep well good people, sleep, sleep...

No Damien. Stopping the riot would be a temporary solution. They need to rehabilitate the "rats" in London or Send them over to the Philippines, and do their rioting here...Cops here love to engaged rioters with 10 to 1 ratio...ten for the police and one for the rioter/protester with "no holds barred" as the only rule of engagement.

Alain,
I'm sorry you lost friends to a gun accident ( or not) and suicides.
I'm very glad you live in a country ( or area) where you feel safe all the time and don't worry about violence, But, not everyone does.
I also hope you NEVER need to defend yourself or your family. That would be great!

I wouldn't like to live in a place where I'd feel threatened all the time. I've never crossed the Atlantic, but I've been to quite a few countries around: I've never felt threatened, or at least, no more than I could feel in my small provincial hometown.

What's that z-movie fantasy, "defend yourself or your family" ?

Bad day at black rock... Very Happy

My front door is always left open, except when I go away on holidays, but the door in the garden is always open anyway, I've lost the key years ago. I'm paranoid enough, I just couldn't live in a paranoid society, I'd either go to church and kill the germs, or burn everything when the opportunity comes, would that be a life?...

No, that's not my cup of tea, I have a family, at least two sons, a mother and a sister, and my other sister who died when I was eighteen could have well thrown fire bombs into sony retail stores.

But how can you mentally prepare yourself to kill someone, whatever the reason is?

53 people died in the LA riots in 1992 (not the US riots, the LA riots).

I can't imagine the toll if the good righteous citizens hadn't had the right to bear arms...

Alain,
It certainly seems you are carrying some anger.
It's true, the USA can be a dangerous place at times. Lots of places in the world can be dangerous, much moreso than the USA. We see that every day in places where the population has NO WAY to defend themselves.
And, it's true, we do need to bear arms once in a while, in fact I remember a few times we even had to in France!

Where? When?

If that was the case, you should have been arrested : only police officers and criminals bear arms.

I just don't believe you: I live here, and I've never ever met anyone in my life, French or from abroad, feeling they had to carry a gun, never, ever.

Or if you were involved in shady business, IRA, ETA, organized crime, maybe, otherwise this just can't be true.

If not, I just can't believe you were so scared of the locals, it's insulting.

..You're probably right Jun. Besides, the riot police in South Africa probably have their hands full protesting and picketing along with the military, doctors, nurses, teachers, municipal workers and trade unions Rolling Eyes .

It seams I have opened a can of worms here. I surly didn't mean to . I forget some times that this is a world wide fourm my views or customs are most certainly not that of yours. All I was saying was in time of need I had the means to defend my family and property from thugs for lack of amore reserved word.

With personal defense come responsibility to use as a last resort and to ensure safe operation and storage.

Be sure of one thing if any weapon is illegal to own, the people of less morales will have it and use it against you and yours without a blink of a eye. On the other hand if said person even thinks you can defend your self and property they will think twice about envoking any action.

This is my American point of view, but I am most sorry and apologies if I offend any one here.

That's enough on politics and personal views. I will quote another member on this fourm in saying " if all countries would just make bonsai what a beautiful world this would be. "

Mitch

Think about that, to me that is more profound than any line in the sand.

we have gun law's in the UK , even our olympic pistol shooting team cant legally have a pistol here , fully automatics are banned , anyone deemed unsuitable cannot own one , but still people are shot almost daily by convicted criminals(deemed unsuitable) , kids with fully automatics etc .
so the knee jerk bans by governments dont work , it only affects law abiding citizens. take the tony martin case he shot a thief dead (all be it in the back) and he was jailed which i feel was wrong but i wouldnt like to see any everybody armed and allowed to defend themselves there are to many dickheads in this country

Thanks God there are people who do not refrain themselves and speak out!!! At least there are still existing....
I have never felt threatened here either by the foreigners who deluge my country for the last 10 years or by protestors or any kind of "criminals".
Politicians are very hard trying their best to persuade me that I am in danger and consequently I need their protection. BUT NO they will not succeed! I will not let them succeed! I know very well that the real danger is them and their guns and their police and their system and so on!!!

Alain, yes, every now and then they do take their arms and patrol around the globe. Everybody knows they do!
But as Will said :

Their politicians make them to be confused and make them to believe that they HAVE TO defend every nation against invisible enemies because otherwise they will not be able to conquer and impose upon us.
