I´m trying to figure out a Holly´s variety but don´t have pictures...

The leaves are prickly as they have thorns at the end of the leaf (not illex cornuta...those leaves are big, these are small).

When the leaf is new, it doesn´t have throns...it develops them as it gets old...throws white, pinkish flowers....has red berries...

Sounds like Okinawan Holly to me.

What do you think? Is it a hit?

Not a true holly. Holly is Ilex and requires a male and female plants (can't remember scientific name for this) The Malpighias has complete flowers, I thnk.

Well, almost any plant is susceptible to root rot, if it is in poorly drained soil, or in a pot without adequate drainage holes, but I don't think any of Malpighia I have had a root rot problem.
