I'm not really sure what you call "dogwood", but if you English-speaking people live in a temperate environment, you must have similar bushes. Here, we call it "cornouiller".

"Cornus alba" is a spontaneous plant and there are also many garden cultivars. I have a couple of them, but the wild species is the one I prefer to work with.

This one was a "gift from the blackbirds" that I collected in the "lawn (Shocked) and put in a pot. It's about 15 cm high now (6 inches ?).

It's particularly nice in autumn. Last year's colours :

It's small, but I like it.

Hello Alain. Very sweet little tree you have there and also free Very Happy . Our native Cornus is sanguinea and the term dogwood comes from dagwood and the very hard wood was used for daggers or skewers.

You must be right : when I first "named" it, I thoght that cornus sanguinea was the species with very red branches in winter, which is actually "Cornus alba 'Sibirica'".

And thanks for the word history, that's very interesting.
