I've seen this technique used to improve/create new nebari, but not for encouraging back budding. Nice!

It is an interesting technique, but this is a FICUS! Wouldn't it have sprouted back like this anyway???? I don't see what it could possibly be accomplishing here.

That is right.
It will still sprout by just cutting it back. my ficus sometimes got 4 to 6 sprouts at the tip after cutting it back.

though, it will interesting to see in other species.

Hi guys, thanks for the answers.
The forum where I saw the information was used to ensure sprouting in big trunks, since they are almost certainly ficus but it ensures sprout. I do not know if it works with other species.
