Leaf Curl on my Field Maple

Can anybody tell me why i am getting this leaf curl?

Do i have to treat for a disease or is it a watering issue?

My location is in the Midlands where we have not really had hot weather, we had one day in the high 20's but thats it and this leaf curl was there before that.

Is is in a very sunny position in my garden next to a wall and would not get much wind? Could this have an effect?

In your profile you only mention "Location: England".

If you are in the south, I suspect this is due to an unusual hot weather, just like the one we're having now in France: yesterday 39° C, today, 36° C. So it's not only watering, it's also that the air is very hot and dry. Worse, it was rather windy yesterday, so it was like a hot air convection oven.

Maybe that's the explanation if you have similar weather conditions.

Kev, as Alain suggests, it would be very helpful if you could give a better indication of where in England you are as there can be many climate variations even in a relatively small geographic area.

Hello Kev. You say it was there before the hot weather. Is this tree newly collected? You could also try inspecting the underside of the leaves to see if there are any bugs hiding underneath.
