Re: Berberis cascade styling
I have just seen this thread! Amazing tree!
Needless to repeat the flattering comments of previous posters.
I do love this species but I find it to be very "stubborn" as far as flexibility of branches is concerned... I have given a little berberis a try in the past and I had wired some branches to the desirable position for whole 7 months or so and as soon as wires were cut off the branches returned to their previous upright position/direction

Re: Berberis cascade styling
I think you can wire the branches to set up the overall design, but then it's preferable to let grow and clip, if only because of the tiny thorns

Re: Berberis cascade styling
Yes, indeed Alain! I tend to believe that clip and grow must be the only method to give movement to berberis branches.AlainK wrote: ... ...but then it's preferable to let grow and clip... ...

Hallo Ed,
I really love the tree!
Got a few questions, if you don't mind, I'd really like to know.
Did you get that progress in the Netherlands? (Little surprise as I know the climate from lifelong experience )
Do you know how old it is?
Alvast bedankt, Tentakelaertje

Great tree, but to me, the stones seem to be piled up in an artificial way: isn't it possible to find a single stone?
But again, great tree!
But again, great tree!

And Alain the mos has filled up the stones a bit and it looks more natural now,I will put a new photo in the summer ok.

Nou, mooi Ed!
