hi IBC,
This tree is called Yangya, It was posted last year with the picture as what it looked like before. I was about to rewire the tree today, I was satisfied with the foliage and branch formation but I don't find the trunk movement and nebari form going with the flow of the tree, etc, etc,.....actually, I was more like looking for an excuse to have a large weeping tree.

before I mess with it...

the pot is an octagon concrete (disposable) suggestions are most welcome....ofcourse critiques are welcome as always.

Jun,

your results are just lovely! That tree has so much more character as a weeping tree. A few questions,

1. What genus/species is the tree?
2. What is the meaning of "Yangya"?

Hello, Jun!
I surely agree with Randy about the lovely result but I have a question though...
How is this tree looking in nature? Does it have a weeping motion?

Thank you Russell and Alexandra.

I'm afraid not. more like a chinese elm behavior.
The branches tends to grow long. as you can see in the the picture before I wired it. from this point on after the secondary and the succeeding branches are in place new shoots will follow the same direction.

Very good and congratulations, it is really beautiful! I just sincerely hope that the tree cooperates, is happy and holds its shape over the next year and if it does, it will be a brilliant tree in future.

Hi Jun

I like the tree weeping. The decided front of the trunk is also very nice. The pot should not be round. Only round pots to literati, and semi- and caskade. IMHO Smile

Kind regards Yvonne

Amazing transformation Jun. Simply love it. One of the challenges that I face with Weeping styled trees is keeping them that way. What I mean is that the trees tend to shoot sprouts up which goes against the weeping composition and needs to be wired down again. This in other words means a lot more of regular and constant maintenance. What is your experience with trees in the weeping style.

thanks Yvonne!

I used this temporary round pot, because I am still studying other possible front.

Ravi,

thanks!
...my experience with weeping style scratch ... branches grows downward and they appears to be weeping..hehehe. seriously though, that depends entirely with the specie of tree, It's difficult (at least for me) to get a good weeping design if the tree is not in good size (above medium) and not in fine leaves as bigger leaves tends to cover the weeping branches...the downside is that some of species I have will grow fine branches in horizontal direction but not upwards.

Hi Ravi and and to others who are interested,

My friend, for my other problems with my weeping trees...I'll tell you my secret, I asked for an aliens help.

as you can see here, they sent a UFO in my garden. hehehe

from "finished" slanting tree to weeping Dsc_1554

This casuarina's variety is I think the ugliest of them all. All the branches grows long without the possibility of foliage massing. so I decided to turn it into weeping style to capitalized on this character.

below is the picture of the tree before it was sent to the gallows.
I attempted to wire the branches but it grows upward after a couple of months. now he is upside down, he can grow all the branches upward all he wants, and I won't even bother to wire it. someday it will looked naturally weeping.
