Here's 2 more pix of the Silverberry.
A month ago I did partial leaf pruning and a good feeding. As expected, a new crop of leaves began to pop. Last weekend I removed the remaining leaves. More leaves began to pop. This new crop should be smaller.
I also hope to force some flowers and berries.

Such a nice specimen cheers The sumo style is one of my favorite styles next to informal upright.I gives the most impressive feel of a massive ancient tree.Like the ones that used to rule our earth b4 we cut them down in the name of progress.

Here's the latest image of the Silverberry. It fully leafed out and I did a little trim today before taking the picture.

Love your tree Mike! Can you give us a bit of history on it?

I bought it about 20-25 years ago on a club buying trip, as landscape collected material in a wooden box from Sumigawa Nursery in Cotati CA. Check the link. It's been a matter of patience over the years growing and training branches where needed. Sometime I should go through my old film camera images and see if there is an early picture.
One bit of humor involving purchasing the tree. The lady at the nursery taking payment for our purchases wondered why anyone would buy such an ugly plant. Do you suppose she would remember it if I took it back for a visit?

BTW. The pot was specially made for the tree by Sara Rayner.

When do they usually bloom in your area?

Very nice tree. I see these at the nursury all the time, just never think about how nice they look when they are taken care of and well aged. Love the pot also.
