Hillier Elm Development

Post  wabashene on Sun Jun 05, 2011 12:06 pm

Picked this up at a garden centre in Surrey before a round of golf at Wentworth about 11 years ago.( halved the match giving a member 3 shots btw)

After taking a few cuttings I planted out on my allotment for a few years and potted up this year.

Quite like the nebari but the hollow looks a bit naff now. Unfortunately the rear of the tree is very badly scarred, although the nebari is probably even better so I'm probably stuck with this view for a while.

Any comments or carving tips appreciated.

thks

Hi Tim. By chance do you have a picture of it this year but without the leaf cover?

Only from the current back Fiona.

You can see that it has several problems hidden by the foliage to an extent.
