Transporting live plants from one country to another, depends a great deal upon the country. I have never imported any plants, but I do know it can be complicated.
A lot of plants do come into the USA from China, but they are almost always for sale, not shows.
There is no reason such an importer couldn't bring in a tree for a show however.
I am not aware of the trade policies between Viet Nam and other countries, but I would think your government has a trade office that could help you.
Sometimes plants imported to the USA are subjected to insect and disease treatments and not all plants survive the treatments.

Hey Bigbabol.

ABFF 2012 will be held here in the Philippines with some IBC pros as guests (I heard), I think it will be lot easier to transport trees from Vietnam to the Phil and vise versa...you could ask your local or national bonsai organization for details.
Though transporting bonsai from south east Asia to the West is very difficult. i have tried to send a couple of times before to no avail, one tree was totally dehydrated and died in fact when it was returned to me.

Getting it back in is the most important part! What if you take your favorite bonsai out of Vietnam for a show, then have it confiscated and destroyed when you try to bring it home? Checking another country's regulations is obviously important, but you had better know your own country's rules too! I seriously doubt customs officials would just take your word for it.
