Hi Todd
I don't have any pictures of it any more but I had a nice one, lost both in hurricane Katrinia. But you have reminded me to start another.

I had a few knocking around a long time ago, they're definitely worth a go. Guaranteed at least a few people will have some pics for you

Todd,

Back last year (I think), there was a weeping willow in one of the exhibitions from Europe. Couldn't tell you when or where, but I thought it was one of the best trees in that thread.

It was in Saulieu, France.

I must have some photos, I'll post them later.

I keep trying to grow 'Rokkakudo,' the compact cultivar, but it is a pain. It tends to die back unpredictably. I have one right now, but nothing I would take a picture of.
If it should survive & grow, I will take a picture.
The best one around is the one by Dave Easterbrook at the Montreal Botanical Garden. I'm pretty sure there is a picture of it on this forum somewhere.

Sorry, it wasn't in Saulieu, but we had two at our local exhibition in October 2010 :

The second one a few weeks ago. It's my friend Eric's (Rikimaca bonsai) :

Hiya

The only one that I know of.... And have seen... Is by/from Simon Temblett, a regular visiting expert to our club, lovely looking tree. Easily Googled online!

Hello

I´ve had some willows in the past, but i gave up on them.
They are very common here in Portugal.

By my experience with them, they have massive die back expectially in dormant states (mid summer and winter). My best explination for this is that they tend to be root bound in a question of months and that causes the die back.

I think the best solution is to plant in big pots or repot twice a year.

Greetings
Mário

I keep two types of willows, artic and alpine. the alpine has tiny flowers and leaves and the artic has big round leaves and flowers about the size of a lttle finger on one's hand. (gigantic). both are potted in much bigger and deeper pots than one would consider for display. always easy to get a new start from.
