This is a mugho pine that I recently purchased from a local nursery and I just wanted to get some thoughts and opinions on it after its styling. Thanks.

This virtual might be somewhat unrealistic (depending on the size of your mugo). If possible, I would wire try and put some bends in the lower left branch and wire the buds back to shorten the length. Then for the middle branch, I would flip it to give balance (albeit sacrificing the windswept look). For the top, continue the interesting movement of the trunk with another kink. If you did all your work recently, I would wait until late winter to do any more work. Just my 3am thoughts.

I can't comment on its "pine-ness" since I have just one, but if windswept is what you are after, you need more movement, both in the upper trunk and in the branches that are being whipped by the wind. Perhaps a bit more tilt to the tree, and wiring to bend the top a bit more to the windward, then some curves (up and down and sideways) in the branches.

If you are a beginner, congrats on tackling a pine early on.

How about going for a raft style? Thoughts?

You probably have too much trunk and too few branches for a raft.

I'm with Jim...work some more dramatic movement into those branches. My guess would be that you'll need a heavier wire on the first and second branches. Do you have a before picture, or is that how you bought it? Thanks for sharing your tree!
