I'm always looking for new and interesting bonsai tools. Rob, can you identify the tool in your avatar for me? Is it something used in the harvesting of yamadori? Question

Thanks, Dance

Thats a driver no so good for collecting but if you spray into the woods a good excuse to go on a recon for trees to collect. A sand wedge is a much better for digging out trees

The golf course is a very good place to look for yamadori. For example the Hyatt Grand Cypress Old Course in Orlando has been there about 15 years or so and when they built the course they planted thousands of Juniper parsonii all over the course. They also pruned them to keep the height down. Its hard to concentrate on golf when surrounded by so many delectable pontensia. There are neat trees all over most courses - at least they can serve as inspiration. If you do collect make sure you get permission - as the greens keepers probably wouldn't understand and would likely press charges.

Ahh! I feel a midnight yamadori field trip coming to the golf course near you! (JUST KIDDING!)

Rob probably lives within five minutes of three or four courses, but then in Florida most people do even if they don't play golf.
