These all come into flower at different times, The "swan" is my oldest prunus and is always last to flower,
it flowers and leafs out almost at the same time, the "ballerina" flowers early and usually they have all fallen of by the time the leaves appear, they all come from the same geographical location so whether its age or genetics I don't know.
But it does prolong the pleasure I get from seeing them in my garden.

Wonderful blackthorns John. Is the ballerina that gigantic one that you had in the back of your van at Burrs a couple of years ago?

Hi John.
Ok, now we know, living in the UK has some advantages.
Real show of.
Though, we ( the not so lucky ones ) hope to see some pictures of the event.

It's good to know others think the UK has some advantages, Smile personally I wish we had more Sunshine. Rain again today Sad
But I guess our wonderful climate (Englands green and pleasant land) does allow us to grow a wide variety of plants,
and these Prunus spinosa are amongst my favourite bonsai.

Thanks for all the comments, I hope to see many more in flower at the weekend, perfect timing for a spring show.

Mine are only this week starting to show any sort of flower - along with other spring flowerers such as Forythia, crab apple, dwarf Rhododendron - but they are certainly well behind yours. I was amused to read of Les and others having to keep theirs in a fridge to retard the flowering. He only had to send it up here for a while.

Look forward to seeing your blackies this weekend, John, and I'm remembering the chocolate biscuit promise.

I would like to go to UK, to see the blacthornes in the exhibition....But I will have to do, with my own ugly shohin blackthorne, who only is pretty, when in flower, together with the Pittpot.
This is what I am buzzy doing at the moment...just took the photos.

Kind regards Yvonne
