Hello Mike. I would be thinking of a much bigger pot for development purposes.

I think the pot is just right (Goldilocks!!!) for this quirky tree...

I never said it wasn't but the canopy needs to develop enormously.

Hi
That is what i thought.
Intense color of the flower, they are like the azalea amoenum.
A nice trunk but a still immature branch structure.
Grate to work with.
Eventually the pot size will be good,
but the pot rim is disturbing the nice nerbari.

Is there any chance for a picture, with say a drinks can to show height of it.

Do you know the variety and did you collect it from a garden?

What is your overall plan to develop it and how do you see the finished article?

I'm sorry to disillusion you, Mike, but there isn't any (single) trunk on this azalea. All I see is roots and some indeterminate stuff that could pass as half-trunks-half-branches.

=======================================================
Azalea with one of my favorite libations.
I don't know the variety. A friend collected it from a garden in San Francisco (with pernmission of course) and gave it to me.
My plan is to just let it grow and bloom in the spring. Trim it as necessary. I happen to like the "sumo" style. (my name for very fat trunks}
