Since collecting this tree, the right hand part of the trunk has gradually continued to die back. I have had a number carving sessions on the dead wood, but was never happy with it. In the end I decided that there was so much dead wood in that section that I took drastic action and removed it. Here is the tree today...

I really like this, much better than the larger previous image. This will be great in a few years.
