Decent shot at removing a holly tree? Empty Decent shot at removing a holly tree?

I currently live on the central coast of California in the States-currently mid/late spring. A friend of mine has a large Holly tree that he would like removed from his yard. The tree is planted in the ground, appears to be very healthy and is in sandy/easy to dig soil. There are no low branches on the stump, so it would likely be dug with no leaves. He wants it removed now as his house is currently for sale. I would assume my chances of survival are about 50%ish because of the time of year and likely removing the tree w/ no leaves. Just wondering everyone thinks about chance of survival.

Thank you,

If it's one of those nasty, real spiky leaved, Chinese holly, I wouldn't bother. But, if you have help and can get a good root ball and keep the soil on it until you can replant somewhere, most holly will bud back prolifically.
