NATIONAL BONSAI & SUISEKI EXHIBITION 2011 IN JAKARTA

Post  Peter Thali on Wed Mar 09, 2011 6:47 pm

Hi Bonsai Lovers

Indonesia is one of the leading nations in bonsaiart today. Last Sunday I was invited to the opening of the NATIONAL BONSAI & SUISEKI EXHIBITION 2011 in Jakarta. It takes place in Gandaria City from 6 till 13 March 2011. There I had the opportunity to meet many bonsaiartists from Indonesia and VIPs from Japan, Korea, Taiwan and the Philippines as well, too. Japan has sent a group of representatives with the chairman of ASPAC Takamatsu 2011, Yukihiko Konishi. Sitting in the first row together with all this VIPs I really felt very honored but a bit insecured too.

306 Bonsai and 147 Suiseki are displayed, some has been chosen by a jury to got an award. Budi Sulistyo, chairman and organizer of this interesting exhibition, kept his calmness all the time and so the event was a great success. Budi also takes the responsibility for the beautiful catalog which shows the great variety of tropical bonsai and amazing suiseki in Indonesia.

I hope you enjoy my report.
With greetings from Bali
Peter

Peter,

Great review. Last time we met was in your lovely Bali home. I am sure that the giant plumerias took root by now.

By the way, Mrs. Fely Gupit (Phillipine Mama) looks very strong!! I am happy to see her in great health.

Terima Kasih,

Jose Luis

Note: Budi is a brilliant organizer and an outstanding bonsaimaster as well, too. I am proud to announce that Budi will participate as a demonstrator in next BONSAI AUTUMN 7 in Switzerland on 27-28 August 2011. If you have a chance to go there don’t miss it.

Dear Budi

Congratulations with this amazing exhibition......
It is interesting to see how much an indonesian exhibition is diffrent from an european exhibition.
The trees and stones are very beatyful.
I liked the first pot, the shape of it, and ( I think ) the second pot, with the interesting texture.

Kind regards Yvonne

Thanks Peter for posting all these photos. It seems like a wonderful exhibition. The trees are amazing. Most would do well in Florida. Hmmm...

I agree Budi is "da man!"

Dear Budi,

I am in Australia, I would like to buy a copy of the catalog. I do understand that the writing is not English.

Would please kindly advise how I could do this?
