Dear Tran Tan Hung

The first stone, is a very nice dramatick cave/ shelterstone,

The second must be big, as the tower is very small on the stone, it is a nice picture, but I can not see the whole stone. Rolling Eyes

The last stone, is a very nice quiet island, lovely. Thanks for sharing.

Very kind regards Yvonne Smile

CAVE LANDSCAPE ... Empty Re: CAVE LANDSCAPE ...

Hi Tran Tan Hung... Your photos illustrate an array of options for placing figurines.

Placing a monk figurine slightly inside or outside of a cave entrance is a resonant landscape view. The cave entrance is only barely recognized, which draws our imagination more deeply than a fully depicted cave. The monk figurine signals us to appreciate a smaller scene than the pagoda figurine suggests. I like the monk placement and size.

The pagoda figurine in the same position as the monk figurine suggests towering cliffs & a vast scene behind an easily accessible building. That scene is what I would imagine without the pagoda. Does the figurine add to the suggestion of a vast scene or detract from it? For me, it detracts.

A large pagoda is seldom (perhaps NEVER) a good choice on a stone because it makes the scene shrink. A pagoda on the highest ridge of a stone squashes the landscape as less important when it should be the most important aspect of the view. The tiniest of pagodas with its apex below the level of the highest mountain peak can energize the scenic view of a landscape when supporting the vastness of a scene. Its use should probably be rare; but when it helps, it can be essential.

One of your stones could be read as a "dragon" figure stone. With the added pagoda, which is well-chosen for being tiny & unobtrusive, viewers must rethink the dragon form as embracing a vast scene implied by the building. It is a good use of the figurine to deepen appreciation of vastness and redirect figural viewing to scenic proportion.

Thanks for sharing, Tran Tan Hung.
