Swampy Progression

Here is a swampy I dug around two years ago, It has come along way since then and would love to hear your thoughts on it.

Well doe. Nice work to use the heavy trunk as a jin and the smaller trunk as the apex. The carving looks good, like to see a close up of it.

I was going to say the same as Rob. Most people would have used the larger trunk as the tree. I think yu made the right choice.

Amazing how plants get moved around th world. Scary, too.

Very nice work. Entirely believable that the older trunk would age and die, to be replaced by the younger offshoot. I've seen this in the swamp near the national champion bald cypress in the U.S. (I live a mere 17 miles away).

I have to agree. Even with my 'beginners' eye, I can see that the smaller trunk was the way to go.

Mick I dug it from a friends back yard, he planted a row of them for future bonsai use but he lost interest, its a pity I didn't find them earlier this tree was the smallest in the row some trunks were 3ft in diameter.
Attached is a pic of the dig and I will endeavor to get a shot of the carving in the next few days soon as it stops raining

That's great Shannon, pity about your friend losing interest.
BTW, I think you need some new work boots, yours seen to have a few holes.

Harleyrider: I think its our Ozzy philosophy of "she'll be right mate" that gets us though......Hahaha... That's my mates tree trunk sized legs in the pic I sent him in first to clear the way and get the first bite....

Seriously though I think growing up in OZ I have a good idea what is creeping around, where to look and importantly first aid if needed.

Ive thought of going to Australia several times but the fauna has really put me off. Stab vest material from toenails to bald patch seemed the way forward and maybe a Kevlar mankini if your feeling really care free or brave. Seeing as most reptiles and Spiders are very sensitive to, or affraid of noise, and flip flops being the best advanced warning system in the history of the world....

...for extra challenge and added adrenalin rush. Bonsai material digging and running and hiding away from forest rangers/guards are boring stuffs.
