I'm booked to do a talk for our club on grafting. I've done some, but would like more pics of different techniques and species that people have tried.

Please post only pics that you wouldn't mind me using. Many thanks

Another branch on the same tree. Both branch and trunk were notched out for a snug fit, then screwed together and sealed with cut paste. Performed in August, when the tree was doing its thickening for the year.A request - Grafting Pics Img_0124

Grafting new roots higher up the stem by means of saplings.
Reason : reverse taper.
Tree is Fagus sylvatica asplenifolia.
Graftings are fagus sylvatica purpurea.

Excellent pictures, thanks guys. Please keep them coming. Any unusual techniques, types of graft, species, all are welcomed.

This is collecting from a Scots pine witches broom.

And a year later, the side veneer graft I did, using the collected scion.

Hi Kev,
Here's Trident Maple root graft I started about 2 yrs ago. The graft was made with a small tree 15 - 20 mm in diameter, a deep groove was put in the main tree and the bark striped off the small tree where they meet. I got the cambium to join as best I could and covered it with cut paste.

Thanks so much for the pics posted already guys. Very useful.

I'm afraid I dropped the ball on this one, due to my bout of pneumonia last year and was unable to do the talk. It is rescheduled for later this year, so if anyone else has pics they don't mind me using, I'd be grateful. I'm about to ask Peter Keane if I can use his on Pine and Juniper, before anyone suggest his Very Happy

and this is a "tongued approach graft" of scots to ponderosa pine. I separated the scots from its rootstock after one year. I wish I had left it for another season as the scots is suffering. I'll know if I was too ambitious this year, or, maybe scots to ponderosa doesn't work?

here's another set. this is with the taping of foliage with buddy tape. the scion is a japanese black pine attached to the same tree in another spot. The shoot was removed and grafted to the branch in one day without being "held back" in February 2010. It wasn't until June when I saw that the new candle was growing. I had to tease the tape open since I wrapped the scion with two pieces.
