The small figure with the two Chinese men is 5cm high.
The soil I used burnt clay and Akadama 50%: 50%
fertilizer from the garden center or from discount
Two Cotoneaster and a young Chaenomeles japonica in Autumn colors

Definitely leave the branch on the tree. It gives depth. I find the 'biting' deadwood distracting, and not adding to the composition.

I think you have captured the spirit of shohin composition beautifully in all your trees, and I look forward to future development. I am particularly jealous of you latest acquisition.

I wish someday that my Shohins could be as nice and clean as yours.  I hope you don't mind me sharing my little Shohin Mugo.  Originally 2 gallon nursery tree in training about 10 years.
