i have this 2 bonsai, i am clueless what to do. please help ^_^

whats the specie of the first tree?
it got a nice shari/ dead wood on trunk, you can capitalized on that feature...and shorten the top of the tree.


the second one is kalyos.

if you could post a clearer picture of the trees with different angles, it would much easier to give some pointers, the photos of the second tree got the thick foliage in front blocking the view of the important branches.

the first one is "bignay" i dont know what to with that dead wood, some part of it are brittle already i want to save the wood..

Hi Kris!

If the bignay deadwood is not soft yet, you can still save it...dont use lime sulfur on it, lime sulfur will just turn it white and kill fungi but won't harden the wood, if you want to really save it you can use wood hardener/preservative. you can buy liter size from Ace Hardware. ask for the brand used in wood exterior decks. very effective on deadwood. apply several coating, and twice a year.
dont wire it yet, just let it grow wild until April or May.


As for the Streblus asper /kalyos you can practice your wiring on it (best time is from feb to april). buy few quantity of wire with different numbers/ thickness. then look at some photos of wiring here on IBC. Pavel works are good example with vivid photos of wiring.
