The Wrightia regligiosa are spectacular. I have two or three and really enjoy them. They are tropical and must have winter protection, but they are vigorous growers and bloomers.
They are also called Water Jasmine, and have a strong odor of Jasmine. I could not take them to work when they were in bloom because some people couldn't take them in confined spaces.

Hi there bigbabol,

Thank you for posting. Happy Year of the Kitten, all the best to you and your loved ones. (And might all the communists die faster and great number this year too.)

What happened to the Tao Đàn Tết Exhibition? Some very beautiful trees last year...

You have pictures or clips of this event, please?

Hi Bill,

In Vietnamese its colloquial name is Mai Chiếu Thủy, "Mai" is just wrong, but people have been using it over the last few hundred years, so it is accepted by the population. Chiếu Thủy means Water Reflection; so called because it is said that they flourish along the numerous water banks of the Mekong Delta region, and possibly that is where it was first discovered, the waters reflect their flowers. Written records show that it has been a popular tree (not always in the bonsai context) for several hundred years in southern Vietnam.

Best regards.
