Hmmmm I would say "no need to mention that", Toshe!
I just meant to say that the theme "bonsai imprinted on post cards" is a first release here on IBC, as far as I can say... Perhaps there are such posts already existing which I cannot trace...
Anyway, I do thank you again for sharing these aethereal pictures with us!

Wow Toche!

What a stunning collection of cards...

Thank you very much for posting these, not only to see them but also because it answers a question i have been asking myself about one of my trees for more than a few years. It has had no work done beyond an annual prune because I could not see a way to resolve the 2 very different possibilities I see in it. Postcards centenaries R0013110
Wisteria floribunda 'Violacea Plena' (Double Black Dragon) 4' tall 6'wide and 5' deep. My original thought was to bend the main trunk up & use the secondary one to form a skirt, but the name always played in my head & I can see 2 dragons circling each other... the main trunk bent down & around the front and the other pretty much where it is, maybe a touch down towards the head....

Thanks to the card of a woman next to a very tall Wisteria I now know how i will proceed starting next winter. Not that it is anything like what mine will end up like but it decided me on the first & original choice. A tall elegant lady dancing around the ballroom in a full hoopgown... Another 20yrs to bring this one to where I want but atleast i now have a direction....

Kindest regards
Matt

Thanks Matta,

I am really happy that you like that and to see that it’s useful.

Here the Chinese cards, they are . . . different.

Compare the last two post cards to this large stone displayed in Tianjin in October 2010.

Toche and Jim,

Yes, Robert is seeing them. Wow! I recognize just a few.

Toche, can you provide any background on any of these -- photographer, date taken, location, how you acquired these, etc.? I would be most happy to link this post and details -- either submitted to the forum or privately to me -- on a page such as http://www.phoenixbonsai.com/1900Refs/OtherPhotos.html or perhaps, for the photographers, in our Bonsai Book of Days http://www.phoenixbonsai.com/Days/Days.html et al.

Thanks Khaimraj,

Hello Robert,
Which happiness to see these appreciated photos. Smile

As I said it here,
https://ibonsaiclub.forumotion.com/t5133p15-tveerle-in-belgium
all photos which I show on the forum belong to the bonsai community.
You can use them as you wish it
Most of them come from sites of sale as Ebay or Delcampe
Look at this.

here

Because of their seniorities, I can give only the information which I find on these postcards.
If you want, I can also to you scanner every card recto back and send you a CD.
I would record them by reappointing every card as this 1a 1b, 2a 2b, 3a 3b, …
Please, Say me if you want this and I will make it with pleasure.

Excuse me for my bad English. Neutral

Michel,

I had to come back for yet another look. I too bought old postcards from Ebay, but of my island home Trinidad, it is always amazing to look at the past.

As Matt has stated, your wisteria gave me an idea. We can't grow wisteria, but we do have Petrea volubilis -

http://www.google.com/images?rlz=1T4TSHB_en___TT342&q=petrea+volubilis&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=univ&ei=K1YiTYrmH8Wblgem45TPCw&sa=X&oi=image_result_group&ct=title&resnum=1&ved=0CB8QsAQwAA&biw=897&bih=361

If anyone wants to see.
In deep,light and white.

I just started to look at the Petrea as a possible bonsai victim. They will bloom at under 38 cm [ 15 inches ]

I tend to prefer the older images of Bonsai, some of the modern work is too complicated. Often a simple shape says so much more.
Thanks again.
Khaimraj

Toche,
The history and beauty of these post cards is such a wonderful gift. Thank you for posting them. The geisha are beautiful and I am intrigued by the tiny feet of the Chinese ladies.
Salut, Todd
P.S How do you prefer to be called? I see postings for Toche, Toshe, and Michael.
