Sierra Juniper Progression Empty Sierra Juniper Progression

This is a Sierra Juniper that I collected back in 2006. Last weekend I took the tree to a workshop at Lotus Bonsai Nursery in Placerville California for some help giving it it's first styling.

October 2010 - The tree 4 years after collection. No styling done.

First styling at a workshop at Lotus Bonsai Nursery in Placerville California. Several branches removed at this stage...

The basic form.... Still lots more detail wiring to be done

Finished for now... Need to reduce some of the excessive deadwood, especially on the left side of the plant.

A detail of the large white jin branch. It looks excessive in images of the whole tree, but the detail shows why I left it on!

This tree has fantastic deadwood features and a great trunk. I can't wait to refine it over the years! If it looks healthy I would like to get it into a more suitable training container in the Spring.

Nice material, but you might at least think about getting rid of some of that deadwood. Less IS more.

Thanks Jim. Yes I will consider reducing some deadwood areas. Especially where the branches were just removed.
