Bonsai Academy in Croatia Empty Bonsai Academy in Croatia

Post  Walter Pall Sun Nov 07, 2010 6:08 am

Last weekend we spent in Croatia near Split. This was a session of the Bonsai Academy. Here are some images. The first two are pistacia. They were collected 4 and 3 years ago by Marija and Andrija. The third one is an arbutum, collected four years ago by Marija and Andrija. It is most astounding what they were able to make of these trees in that short time. Then all oriental hornbeam, Carpinus orientalis. As one can see the Croatians are coming big time.

To see how these trees were created and a lot more go to: http://walter-pall-travelogues.blogspot.com/

Walter, thank you for sharing the Bonsai Academy. Beautiful material and photos of the work. I enjoyed your blog.
I tried to write a comment but was not able to register, I'm not sure how to do this. What do I need to do to register? Thank you.

Todd,

you write a comment. Then I have to read the comment and publish it. There is endless spam if I let folks just write. No need to become a member.

Thank you.
Do you rremember this tree? You helped me style it in Richmond, VA in 2006 or 2007. Weeping red pine.

Todd,

sure I remember this tree. It looks much more mature. The crown needs a bit of grooming. How abut a branch of the Bonsai Academy in Richmond? Smile

John,

not a single tree is purchased. ALL trees are collected right there by these folks. Imported? Where in the world can you get such material in great numbers? The Croatians have more top class broadleaved material than I have ever seen in the whole rest of Europe. What you see on my blog is only a fraction.
