This is My favorite Kusamono... but what is it? It was shown at the Best of British Bonsai exhibition last weekend and nobody knew for sure what it was... I purchased this at a bonsai event in Munich a few years ago... Wolfie got one as well! bounce post your favorite Kusamono here as they are starting to look their best.

Tony,

Klaus's suggestion looks pretty spot on to me, and could be either M.acanthifolia or M. rossi. as he suggests. BTW, the Mukdenia and Aceriphyllum are the same plant just in case you hadn't picked that up. Aceriphyllum is its older name.

I'm finding myself wondering why I lugged this plant (sorry - carried it gingerly) around a Botanic Gardens for you last weekend and didn't think to go and ask one of their experts! An opportunity missed - I must be getting old.

That´s very easy to answer, Tony. Cool

Muckdenia rossii - the newest name for this plant is Aceriphyllum rossii.

It´s a very nice plant!

See you! Wolfie

My mate at the Scottish Rock Garden Club is following this discussion and agrees it's Mukdenia as above. Doubly so now he's seen your latest pics. Try www.srgc.org.uk/discus/messages/283/581.html and you'll see what it looks like.

My favorite Kusamono... but what is it? Empty Your query re: Favourite Kusumono

Hi Tony,

I've just registered on IBC and Robin Jehan sent me a copy of your kusumono query..... I can confirm Wolfgang's reply.... it is an Aceriphyllum rossii. I was given a small cutting from a plant that John Trott bought in Japan and it's doing really well for me. I hope to propagate from it in about 2 years's time.

Cheer,

Dan
ps this is my first posting on IBC so I hope I've got it right!!!

Beautiful. Do you have any care guidelines? I supose I could do a google search on it, but I like first hand accounts much better! Laughing
