I found literally a "handful" dwarf Pinus Mugo container in a garden store on "fall sale" yesterday - only a few bucks each. Since I got the last five, I thought it would make a nice mame/ishizuki group. It is fun to play with the shrubs.

Very nice little tree. It will look even better when it is put in a small pot...

I really appreciate small trees like this.. I think that there is so much material out there that is over looked because it is small and young.

Thank you Rob. I appreciate your feedback and I agree. There is a lot material out there.

I did spend some time in garden stores this fall and purchased about a dozen mugo pines. Some already got a light first cut and pruning, but I don't do anything further until spring / summer.

If those are the real miniature mugo, go easy. They are much more sensitive and temperamental than the standard form. In the North, which may include Indianapolis, they prefer to be repotted in July. (A lot of disagreement on this, but whatever works)

I agree with you Iris. The best repotting time for mugos seem to be best after the first growth and it depends on the trees condition.
