got myself a new camera so i thought i would get some practice in.

The first is my Shohin Beech (23cm )

I think your Chuhin Beech would look better on a tall stand in order to accentuate the cascading effect. A tall stand would also allow the pot to be better seen. Right now, on the driftwood, everything blends-in and nothing is distinct; this may be the effect you were trying to achieve, but I think the tree is lost on the driftwood - at least in the photo.
